This makes me angry

Not a lot I can say about this other than the above. I’m embarrassed that this guy is an anthropologist. As for the professor making the Nazi reference…how convenient of you to justify your remarks and criticisms by saying the only good German was the German who said no.

You clueless, radically liberal pieces of crap.

Getting the US space program back on the horse

This article presents Wired’s take on how to recover from the recent space shuttle disaster - get a real mission to Mars going, and pronto. I’m not feeling very expressive this morning, so I’ll leave it at a simple “I agree”.

March FPS downloads

Just because I’ve been away from the weblog doesn’t mean I didn’t run out and purchase Raven Shield when it was released earlier this month - and there’s already a new map from a member of the development team. If you think that’s speedy, then you’ll be amazed at the fact that you can already pre-order the first mission pack from Amazon.com (scheduled to be released on July 8) .

If you’re a “less thinking, more fragging” type of person (and who isn’t from time to time?), then the new Unreal Tournament 2003 Bonus Pack will make you happy. Just make sure you’re patched up to v2199 before you try to install this tasty new free download.

Hectic month

Suffice it to say, work has been keeping me hopping this month. I won’t elaborate, but let’s just say it’s been a string of 80+ hour weeks with precious little time and even less motivation to browse the web and get caught up with what’s going on.

I’ve hardly even had the energy to keep up with the news about the brave members of the US and coalition armed forces in Iraq, let alone the geek-culture stuff we usually write about. I’m not sure work is going to get much better, but I will try to ease back into some semi-regular updates to the blog.

Media and the War

I came across this column last week and it really struck me. As a journalism major, objectivity was stressed above all else. It’s amazing that objectivity is the one thing modern media is unable to attain.

I’m angry that I have to count on the media to keep track of what’s going on in the world because I know that everything I read is driven by someone’s agenda. The best I can do anymore is to take *everything* with a grain of salt.

Needless to say, I switched to an anthropology major.

Oh, the pain!!

Well, last night Dan and I hunkered down to a much anticipated episode of Angel. I don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t watched it yet, but suffice to say it was leading up to a hell of a conclusion. We sat there, riveted to the screen when all of a sudden, Dan Brokaw cuts in with news of yesterday’s attack of opportunity in Iraq.

ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Needless to say, we missed the rest of Angel.

To quote our friend Mike, who was in the same predicament: ” “Dammit! Couldn’t you start the war an hour later!!!!!”

Hopefully we’ll at least be able to get an episode synopsis soon. :)

Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad

As some of you might know, my three favorite bands/musicians are The Police, Elvis Costello (with and without the Attractions) and Peter Gabriel. Last night two of those (Elvis and The Police) were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

*sigh* I’m so proud of my boys (except you Stewart). :)
